Types of Volunteering
Individuals or Groups
People of all backgrounds can use their skills to advance our mission. Join us to adopt a classroom, assist in beautification projects, present on topics of expertise, or explore custom volunteer opportunities.
Direct Service
Volunteers serve as mentors, tutors, or supports to one of the many YW3CAprograms, including Adult Education, Foster Grandparent Program,
Community Outreach, or Dignity Kitchen.
Volunteers help plan, organize, and execute events and fundraising campaigns, including event setup,marketing, and donor outreach. Join us for Week Without Violence or host a fundraiser to benefit YW3CA.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Opportunity: Adult Education Tutor
YW3CA is seeking patient, flexible, and enthusiastic volunteers to empower adults on their journey toward self-improvement.
What You’ll Do

Academic Support: Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring in reading, writing, and math.

ESL Instruction: Help English as a Second Language learners improve their speaking, reading, and writing skills.

Career Coaching: Assist students with resume building and navigating job applications.
Requirements

High School Diploma (required).

Volunteer Opportunity: AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program
Are you 55 or older and looking for a meaningful way to give back? Our Foster Grandparent Program connects older adults with students in local schools and childcare centers to provide them with mentorships and the support they need to thrive.
What You’ll Do
- Mentorship: Work one-on-one with children to help them reach their academic and personal goals.
- Classroom Support: Provide a steady, encouraging presence in educational environments.
- Impact: Share your life experience and wisdom to help shape the next generation.
Program Details & Benefits
- Commitment: Must be able to serve a minimum of 15 hours per week.
- Perks: Receive a small stipend, transportation assistance, and regular recognition events.
- Support: Comprehensive orientation and training are provided—no previous teaching experience required!

Volunteer Opportunity: Community Resource Aide
Community Resource Aide Volunteers will provide one-on-one support primarily through email and phone, with occasional in-person interactions, helping adults navigate personal challenges and connect with programs and community resources that support their goals. By offering guidance, encouragement, and resource referrals, volunteers will play an important role in helping individuals build confidence, access opportunities, and take meaningful steps toward self-sufficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Complete our case management orientation to build effective case management strategies.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to help adults navigate family challenges and make progress toward their personal, familial, or financial goals.
- Work closely with the Director of Intake and Impact to develop and update tailored resource lists and accurately document referrals.

- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
