WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
This internship opportunity will be an experience in working with YW’s Mission Engagement department. Responsibilities include supporting the marketing of new programs, research industry-related topics, prepare proofread, and edit blog posts before publication as well as develop presentations, materials and other content for organizational programs and community events. This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to learn more about marketing, communications, grant writing, and social services. The intern will gain valuable insight on non-profit management and strategic planning, brand awareness, and community-based marketing.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (Includes, But Not Limited to):
Marketing:
- Help with marketing launch of new programs.
- Attend program events as needed for marketing support (e.g., taking pictures, social media)
- Assist with implementation of social media strategy (posts, blogs, videos, etc.)
- Design social media graphics as needed.
- Create and distribute monthly electronic newsletters in coordination with program leadership to gather necessary content.
- Partner with YW program leadership on new marketing collateral including merchandise, program print and digital materials.
- Support creation of PowerPoint presentations for various programs, as well as about the organization as a whole.
- Create and post regular blogs on the organization’s website:
- Research industry-related topics (combining online sources, interviews and studies)
- Write clear marketing copy to promote our products/services.
- Prepare well-structured drafts.
- Proofread and edit blog posts before publication.
- Submit work to supervisors for input and approval.
Social Media and Outreach:
- Write, edit, and help produce news releases, social media content, blog content and other articles and publications for the organization.
- Post event information on community contact and calendar locations and compose press releases to include in local media.
- Promote the YWCA’s brand and identity; and increase visibility through work with the local media.
- Develop presentations, materials and other content for organizational programs and community events.
